6600GT is faster but only has 128mb ram. the x700pro is a bit slower but has 256mb ram. later on. games with very high minimum requirements will bennifit from the extra 128mb. so its up to you to choose

Get the 6600GT. The x700pro really doesn't offer good competition. The extra mem means very little.

Oh, and if the minimum video memory requirement for a game in the future is 256mb, you wouldn't want to be playing it on such a crappy (then) card.

6600GT is faster at stock, plus the right cooling will let you overclock like crazy.

Have you considered a 6800le?

Well if he is considering an X700pro which is only pci-e, a 6800LE is not an option. Anyway, you would have to mod the extra pixel pipes out of the LE or overclock it a lot to beat the 6600GT.

how bout a plain 6800 PCi-E? Its better, and not for too much extra price.

But if it mush be 6600GT/x700pro, its the 6600GT for sure.

Actually it does come in AGP. I just bought one @ Bestbuy. X700Pro. I was looking for the 6600GT but they were out. Couldn't wait. :bang head

that would be a good choice if the PCI-E 6800nu's could be unlocked to have the extra pipes. in PCI-e the 6600gt basicly rules the $150-$200 price range. since most 6600gt's clock very well.

Go with the 6600gt, it can run any game at any settings smoothly.

I would get the 6600GT reason being it is more future-proof.

If that is in fact true and you don't have preferance between the two companies, then the 6600GT does sound like a good choice.

I bought a X700pro, because the 2 Nvidia cards i've owned just didnt please me when it came to color richness.
My AGP version can run WoW with all ingame settings maxed. Not sure what the AGP 6600GT's are selling for but I paid 200.00 for an X700Pro the week they came out.
