What speed is needed (probably dumb question)

My friend has this computer, and wants another stick of 512ram. What speed does it need? I don't have much experience with Pentium systems (the only RAM I've ever bought was PC3200, once a stick of PC133 :p). It says the bus speed is 533mhz, so do i need DDR533? That can't be right tho, as the system is a few years old and I thought PC4200 was much newer than that. I was looking at 184-Pin DDR SDRAM, that's the right stuff right? Any help appreciated.

I concur. Any normal DDR ram from PC2100-3200 should work. Anything you put in there will just downclock to PC2100 speeds.

The minimum you want is PC2700. Intels under 200fsb run 4:5 dividers, so a 133fsb cpu would run the ram at 166mhz.

Like "Hef" said, PC3200 is still prolly cheaper & will work fine.

Edit That A-Data should be fine too.
