Does anyone have any info on this card? I'd be very curious to see how much better it will be than the 7800GTX. A potential release date would help to. I wouldn't think it would be that much faster, just a higher clock probably. Maybe 512Mb's of ram, hopefully. Anyone know? Thanks. :)

Wow, that does sound good, thanks. Hope it doesn't require a bios flash, I'm not about to do that to $500 hardware. I just wouldn't mind knowing the release date on this beast, shame it will probably be this winter with the R520:(

Wait, I thought the GTX was the ultra...

So it's going to be like this?:

7800GTX Ultra
7800GTX
7800GT
7800?

That's what I can figure, maybe even an LE version as time goes on. The vanilla, GT, and GTX are for certian though. I just don't like the idea of going out and buying a 7800GTX only to find they have an Ultra out in 2 weeks with twice the memory and 32 pipes. I don't care how well the 7800GTX plays everything if I'm spending $500 what's a little more for that much of an improvement. Personally I was slightly dissappointed when the GTX shipped with 256Mb's or memory. I know it sounds really stupid as it's all you need but with a card that beefy why not not go all out.

yeah but if the gtx is $600 originally... think about the price for the ultra !!!!!!

Actually the GTX was first proposed to being $650 which is ridiculous but now you can snag it for under $500, it only took a few weeks. Chances are the Ultra will be about the same except the price will drop slower.

Yeah, really the only reason we buy these flagship cards is to have the best hardware. I bet they are saving the Ultra for the R650 or whatever, because ill will bet the barn the 7800GTX dosen't stand a chance against the R650, why because ATi knows now what their up against and have said it will have 32 pipes and im sure 512megs memory. 7800gtx sales will hit rock bottom if Nvidia tries to pull this card through the release of ATis nexgen.

So in other words my suspicions are correct, no Ultra till 2006 or a tad before. Well guess I'll buy the GTX then, I'm sure it will handle Unreal 3 pretty well.

this is why you go with evga.....that way if in fact the ultra hits within 3 months or whatever you can do the upgrade program and bam you got the best card.....

also you dont get hit with one big price tag all at once this way either.....thats kinda good for some peeps....

Wow, thanks. So are you saying that you can just exchange cards and pay the difference over the course of a few months? Wicked!
