Hey guys. I'm starting to complete a few mods to my case, and I need some knobs.

They need to be the type that either press on or have a screw on the side that clamps them onto a little post. They need to fit the little posts on a vantec nexus.

Now, they need to be VERY low profile. This is very important.. they need to be practically the same height as the little posts themselves. They need to be as close to 1/4 inch as possible (the height of the post).

They are going on the fan controller (obviously). My case has a drive bay door. The drive bay door has a window in it. The controller BARELY fit before (door was pushed out about 1mm). Now the window has added around 3/8 - 1/4 inch to the door depth. The two outer knobs keep the door from closing by a large margin.

Anyone know of any knobs / where to find em?

What I did on my Nexus was to shorten the knobs on a belt sander and also took a little of the posts with a Dremel so it would fit behind the door on my Antec case. Had to use a little glue but it worked fine. I too looked for shorter knobs at frist, found alot with the same post size but they were all to long to work. One thing I was thinking about doing was to make some out of clear acrylic rod on a lathe, thought they would light up nice from the blue LED's.

...shorten the knobs on a belt sander ...clear acrylic rod...

So how did you manage to get the knobs shorter? Are they solid further down? Or did you end up with knobs without caps on the end? When I looked at em, they looked like if I started grinding off the tops, I would end up with a cylindar...

I was actually thinking about doing the exact same thing with acrylic.. great minds think alike? :-]
