(¯`·._.·[ Project Three Mile Island - Rev. C2 ]·._.·´¯)
Alright, most of you saw the classic P3MI Rev. B1 of mine in the Lian-Li case, and then saw it move into the U2-UFO case, which became P3mi Rev. C1, and now we're onto Rev. C2, which is basically C1 w/ a major overhaul as far as components go. I'm getting a head start and posting this now, as within the week, I'm gonna be sending out a MO for the f***ing AMAZING P4 660 Engineering Sample that a friend on the forums hooked me up with, so that'll mark the beginning of Project Three Mile Island - Rev. Feel free to drool over the specs as you please until the build TRULY begins
Also - big props to a few people that helped make this possible: mikeguava and Xenocide for hooking me up with some parts at killer prices, and Sucka for helping me sort out what HD's I wanted (I am hard drive illiterate - i know about everything except for thoes damn hard drives :bang head)

i already got it on PBN, PBvids, matrix owner, and a few others... so i'm good - i'm an expert at selling stuff by now - 3 1/2 years experience :p
ps: its my trix
The budget scares me!
ROFL... thats just what its costing to upgrade... add in the total of what i already have, and you have a machine that costs almost $3000

ahh....selling the old DM3 are we :) Just got an Ego myself but thats beside the point. Ill ask around FBM and see if anyone wants one as well :) Great start for a project tho.
~Ken
small update: going to upgrade to a 2x1GB set of DDR2 instead of a 2x512MB set - why? 1gb sticks of DDR2 doesn't have the overclocking problems as DDR1 does, plus its only $10 more from the person i'm getting it from, plus all the more multitasking that it'll enable me to do

another update for today: sent paypal to my friend for the set of OCZ DDR2 RAM :attn:
today's update: just ordered Asus P5WD2-Premium & Chaintech AV-710 from newegg :)

Asus P5WD2-Premium & Chaintech AV710 will be here tomorrow according to the UPS tracker, and then if mikeguava sent out my 660ES on time, i'll get it friday or saturday (hopefully), and if the OCZ guy gept his promise, i'll have the 2x1GB set of Platinum DDR2-667 soon as well
... then all i need to get it up and running is a PCI-E video card... so another 2 weeks until i have enough cash for the 7800GTX
Rock on dude lol sad to see the dm3 go :(

oh man... newegg/WD has their $20 main-in rebate offer again on the 74gb raptors... and they're on sale for $181 + $2.99 shipping... it lasts til Aug. 31st, so i get another paycheck on wednesday this week (pretty sure)... so Vector goes on the backburner and i order my hard drives... hell, i'm gonna do 2 74GB raptors in RAID 0... i can't pass up $320 for 2 74gb raptors

That's a shame, SLI board and you got ATI :p
no, its not a SLI board - the second PCI-E slot is an auxilary 4x slot
and for $335, i couldn't pass up the x850xtpe
FINALLY... after a $50 bribe to the OCZ guy, he agreed to ship the ram out within 24-48 hours... so its almost done :) w00t! :attn:

NM, seen the first post.

after that all i need is a pair of hitachi T7K250's :bday:
another update for today:
my friends dad machined me a bracket identical to the one that comes on the newer lian-li's so that you can flip the PSU if you desire - in my case, the PSU is flipped upside down already, so this bracket will allow me to flip it right side up and give me alot more slack in my P4 12v wire... coolest thing is that he did it for free too :attn: (the red is just spray paint that they use so that they can see their scribe marks & protect it from rust 'cause its cold rolled steel (i'm gonna prime and paint it black anyways))
got my ram today... got all my new goodies installed, but running them at stock for now

Geez man, you must have a F A T W AL L E Twell, even though i'm 16, my parents won't let me get a car yet, so until they enroll me in drivers ed, i really feel no need to save up for a car yet, so until then, all my paychecks go to either my computer or to paintball
and it also helps when you have some PHAT connections with OCZ :attn:

Yeah, like $600 for RAM is a "connection" :p
But anyway, your priority in what you invest your money on is similar to mine. I'm 17 and I work at a Movie Theater so that's what funds my killer rig :attn:
i just ordered my 2 hitachi t7k250 250gb sata2 HD's from egg today, so all i need now is a DL DVD burner & XP Professional :bday:
and later tonight, i'm gonna be setting up my WC loop once again to see how beasty this little processor really is :attn:
(edit, i really use these two smiles way too much: :attn: :bday: ... oh well  )
HD's will be here tomorrow and I just ordered 25 feet of Masterkleer 1/2" ID, 13/16" OD (5/32" Wall) Tubing which will most likely come on Monday
got the tubing yesterday, and DAMN! the bend radius kicks complete azz :attn:
comparing it with a peice of tygon, the masterkleer definitely won the match to my surprise
anyways, my G5 was a bit concave, so I lapped it today... the end result:
I screwed up big time - I found out that I only set one of my HD's to SATA II, so in RAID 0, it did NOT want to play nice
so now both of them are at SATA II, and windows is finally loaded, and I'm operating on my 10gb OS partion for now as the rest of my HD space gets formatted
DeViL_909

You may have messed up on the g5. You should not have taken it apart to lap. There was a problem with the block and the concave part. If you leave it together, you get the concave, but apart you do not get it. Put it back together and relap. This was an aritcle in the cooling section a while ago. the bottom block was milled perfectly, but the way it fit together caused it to bow.
That post by Cathar said that the force of the screws may have pulled the base of the block out of true, but I re-aseembled the block rather carefully, making sure to only gently snug the screws so that they would stay in place & seal the o-rings correctly
Even now when I look at the base w/ the assembled block with the screen or graph paper test, its just as flat as it was when I looked at the baseplate alone, and definitely flatter/less distorted than it was before I lapped it - no worries, I know what I'm doing, and I thought through my decision to lap it for a few days, and decided to go ahead and do it - we'll see if it helps temps any when I get around to installing it (Thursday or Sat/Sun)
got off my azz and assembled the WC loop on thursday:

only thing left to do is either buy Lian li faceplates for your drives or stealth em.

you could definitely toss in a compressor of sorts, especially if you get the new version with the bracket for a second PSU on the mobo side of the case (so you have more room on the right hand side

Very nice man, love the lighting. That sound card you got, Chaintech AV710, Is that any good? Is it better than onboard? I was thinkin about moving to a soundcard but I have no cash...this seems more in my price range. Very nice job man :D
its definitely better than onboard sound, and its only $25 or so from newegg
well worth it, and its comparable to my friend's audigy 2 ZS
the reason the AV710 is so cheap is because it doesn't have an on-board processor for the sount - it uses some of the CPU power (not noticable at all)

 people have their color preferences, and its what they think that matters, for myself, green has been my favorite color ever since i could say the sentence "grass is green" ROFL... good times long long ago (almost 17 now)
got the 120mm hole saw i ordered from mcmaster today - i have to cut some holes in a friends case for a radiator, and it just gave me a good excuse to finally cut 2 holes in the top of my case to make it like the "original top" version of my case, so here it is:

i also drilled out all the window rivets and replaced them with 6-32 socket cap machine screws & nuts to continue the "bolted together" look i've been going for :)
edit: 2 clear antec tri-cool 120x25mm fans and 2 black wire fan grills to fill the empty holes are going to be ordered tomorrow
