Alright first the story, my current girlfriend bought her Acer Travelmate 420 a while back from a kid who was using it for gaming. Well its got a Pentium 4 2GHz, but all that really means to her is that it gets way to hot when she uses it. It does get quite warm and I was wonder if theres a soft mod I can do to lower her cpu's clock speed? I have little knowledge in overclocking but have do some soft modding(via rivatuner) to my video card. Any help would be greatly appreicated. The info at bottom was taken from dxdiag, wans't sure what to post. If you need to know anything else just ask and I'll do my best to answer.

P.S.- Not sure if this is posted in right place if not I aplogize.

What kind of temps are we lookin at here? What's your CPU temp idle and under load...and any other temps you can dig up idle and under load.

You could take open your case and clean it out real well...take off the fans and clean them out real well. Get some AS5 or similar and reseat your Heatsink (clean the heatsink out too). By doing all this, and hiding most of my cables, I was able to get a 9C change in temperature at load. Granted, you may not get the same results...you could even get better - but that's where I'd start.
