I'd spend the $10. Worst case senario, is it's so old you can only use it as a router. Best case senario, is that it's nostalgic and you can sell it on e-bay for more than you paid for it, or that it's a fairly recent ssytem that you can actually do something with.

probably a 386. what counts as "standard" ? and even my old epson QX-10 had a modem (well could have, it was an expensive upgrade) and it was a whoppin 4 mhz cpu.
