Obviously it's not exactly a secret anymore that Nvidia will launch its GeForce 7800 GT on August 11 priced at US$449 or 499, according to sources at motherboard makers, reinforcing previous reports about the launch schedule.
In addition, the sources stated Nvidia will cut the prices on its GeForce 6800 series around that time, with prices for the 6800 Ultra dropping to US$399, while the 6800 GT will fall to US$299 and the 6800 will fall to US$199 and that means bad news for ATI's new Radeon x800 GT people.

Well that's great since I plane to buy a 6800 sometime soon, but the cuts already seem to have taken place

Yes they have but this time manufacturer will cut the price themselves so we will probably see even cheaper prices from distributors.

ATI is way down especially since they got 3% Yield Rate on the R520 chips. They better come up with something soon that will counter nVIDIAS G70's or they will be in some deep s****.

While ATI does not have anything to deal with the new nvidia card, the are not dead in the water. Got to remember that High end cards are not the major part of the market. They are still making a killing off of the mid and low ranged cards. I will say that being an overclocker, I am really dissapointed in the lack of releases by ATI here lately. Its like they got ahead and then just sat there patting themselves on the back for what they had done. Either way, lower prices and better video cards are good news for everyone :)

I guess I will wait a couple more days to get my Graphics card then. YAY!! Save some money for some new memory and cooling perhaps... But question -
I was offered to buy a evga 6800 256mb card for 150 cash. DO it or not? Actually he has two of them.. Should I take the plunge now or buy new?

Buy new.
Anyways, since their releasing the 7800GTs in AGP too, that might appeal to the population of AGP owners, which make up probably 95% of the world market.
Now I am accually thinking of getting the 7800GT over the 6800GT. There is only 20 pipelines but cant you unlock the other 4 ?

Yes this may be possible but we need to wait for the cards to get here first and see if they can be softmoded. If they run at same GPU Vcore as GTX's then you just might do it through RivaTuner (soon as they update) without flashing the BIOS.

Good for most everybody, but not for me. I'm trying to sell one in the classifieds and I just had to drop the price to compete with the online retailers.

True that , True that. But thats the thing about most product sales. Prices always drop... some huge drops some slight. Is it used? Where did you buy it? Is there possiblity of return to the store for credit or refund ?

It was pulled from a new Dell Dimension, so not exaclty used, but also not returnable.

I would ebay it. Post it at 50 bucks below retail and auction it 5 days.
I say this because the longer you hold it the longer it will drop. Get what you can for it now.
