i am going to be building a new pc with a x-2 3800+ CPU, 512MB nvidia 6800 ultra graphics card (sli), 2GB RAM, a 650W silverstone PSU and a nzxt nemesis elite case. if i make this pc will it all work? and what motherboard do you suggest i use?

I'd not recomend a 512mb 6800U, for reasons stated in your other post. Also, what 2gb of ram? I'd suggest not getting something too expensive, but make sure you have 2x 1gb chips and not 4x 512mb. Also also, that is one VERY expensive power supply. I don't think you need quad 12v rails, unless you are running something like 2 7800GTX's or 2 6800U's in SLI, and have a ton of drives.

I have this power supply, and it is more than enough for my needs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104934

Or, you could go with this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104152

As far as motherboards, I would suggest one of these 3:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152 - Excelent overclocker, good price.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136157 - Same as above but with more Sata ports and supports SLI. I wouldn't recomend SLI, but many people go for the SLI board simply to spend more money.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131540 - Supposedly a more than decent overclocker, but the main reason I'd get this one is if you want a very quiet pc. Replacing the stupid northbridge heatsink on the DFI is hard, because its right under the video card.

EDIT: I just noriced the (sli) in parenthesis after the 6800u. Does that mean you are getting 2x512mb cards, or 2x256mb cards? Or are you just getting a single 6800u? Either way, I'd recomend a 7800GTX over a 6800 ANY day, and you can still add another for SLI if you want, but I think its rediculous since it can already run Doom3 maxed out at 1600x1200, 4x AA and 16x AF.

Yeah, the Forton should be enough if your running one 6800GT, maybe even if your running one 7800GTX, but if you have the extra $20, then go for the OCZ PowerStream 520W, it'll be able to handle your configuration choices and have options to add a few extra HDDs.

The biggest question is as if you'll OC or not:
Extreme OCer: DFI LanParty UT nF4-D
Smalm OCer: EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra
Stability: ASUS A8N-E
Best SLI: ASUS A8N-SLI Premium

Are you getting TWO 6800GT Ultra 512MB?, those cards are about $700 each.

I'd recommend the 7800GTX, if you have that much money, get two 7800GTX and put it in SLI on the ASUS A8N-SLI Preminum board.

What's your price range? And what will you mainly do with this?

thanks for all of the help but i have found this single 512MB 6800Ultra graphics card to be only about £230 which is cheaper than a 256MB ultra over here in the UK(wierd i know), and has sli !. so seeing as i do not have the money to buy two at the moment i though i could get compatible mobo and power supply, so that in the near future i could add another if i wanted to (yes 1GB!!!! :) ). and i think the best board to do this on is the asus A8N-SLi (Standard) because i do not see the point of having the deluxe version (unless someone can point it out for me) and is also one of the cheapest.

As far as I know... all pci-express 6XXX cards support SLI. SLI = running 2 cards together to make them twice as fast.

EDIT: As far as boards go, the Premium is a much better overclocker than the Deluxe or standard, almost on par with the DFI boards.

thanks again, but when i get this i do not want to overclock it straight away. however in about a year or so i probably will end up doing so :)

He is saying, you can save a lot of money by getting a cheaper power supply. The Fortron BlueStorm 500w should be enough.
