I've never had a dead processor, so I could use a little help here.

Received my P3 1100 (100x11, SL5QW). Installed it in my VH6-2. Powered up. Nothing. No video POST screen, no system POST screen, nothing. Drives and fans do spin up, though.

Cleared CMOS - no luck. Reinstalled 866 and set FSB to 100. Replaced 1100. Powered up - no luck. Reflashed BIOS (4D rev which supports 1100) - no luck. Set all BIOS options (including SoftMenu) to defaults - no luck.

Also tried it in my son's Shuttle AV18E with the same results. And, just out of curiosity, I powered up my system without a processor to see what happens. Same results as when the 1100 was in.

I have notified the seller that I think I received a dead CPU and am awaiting instructions for replacement. Just wanted to see if there's anything simple that I overlooked. Any help is appreciated.

Looks like you've done everything.

Hopefully you'll get a replacement with no hassels :)

Nope. Great troubleshooting. Don't let the seller try and screw you.

Thanks all for the replies. The seller is on holiday until Monday. I don't expect any trouble with a return. *crossing fingers* His ebay feedback rating is quite good (700+). If all else fails, perhaps Visa will step in since I used them for payment. Thanks again.
