I just upgraded my primary system to Windows XP x64 Edition, and was wondering if their is any folding client that utilizes the new 64 bit OS? Apparently it's a lot more efficient with many scientific benchmarks, so I'd like to take advantage of it if possible. :)
The FPU isn't 64 bit in current chip designs so there won't be any significant gain in FAH which relies on it. There are no current plans to come out with a 64 bit version of FAH for this very reason.

Would you be able to "Duel" boot your system?
64 bit / 32bit?

Aye, the chip manufacturers are very much into encouraging programmers to replace FPU code to to that utillizes the integer unit instead. Intel and AMD would bother very much like to do away with the FPU unit altogether.
I'd wager that within the next 6-10 years they'll be making CPU's without any FPU (or at least with vastly weaker FPU's) thanin current CPU designs.
ThereforeStanford had better hurry the hell up and release a client that's entirely integer based. Considering that's the performance area both maqnufacturers are concentrating on then that's the direction Stanford should take also.

Even though the present client is 32 bit, I think it will run on the 64 bit version of xp all right, if I remember right. I don't think you will se any gain in folding speed but I think it will run ok.
