microphone promblem

Hey all, Well i just upgraded to socket 939 with a 3200+ chip
and the ga-k8ns ultra-939 board. Promblem is For the life of me i could not get the mic to work using the on board sound, So i went out and bought a turtle beach sound card, And still the same thing , mic wont work, Drivers show as its there, have checked all the obivious and not so obivious, but nothing,
Does anyone have any ideas, Im running windows xp with sp-2

Do you have the mic turned up in windows sound manager, and not muted either?

Yeah have checked all that, Even tried the mic on a different computer and it works fine, I have tried everything i can think of , But nothing is working
