View Full Version : 6600GT dying ?

I've had my 6600GT for about 4 months, with it oc'd 550/1100. I have extra cooling which kept the load temps no higher than 70c. Just recently, the performance seems to have dropped in every game/benchmark. I did try different older drivers that worked, and those took a hit as well.
Would this be a symptom of a dying card or are artifacts and crashes symptoms? I also was wondering about the new driver I used, 77.76, and the new option that came up in display properties (triple buffering). I'm curious to think that this would somehow ruin my card if it doesn't support it.
What do you guys think?

id say back down your overclocks cause your card is running too hot as it is :)

70c max is not too hot, stock HS registers 80c+. This is not the problem, i wonder if a chipped GPU core would do this. But it was running fine with it the way it was for months.

Run the card at default clocks with stock cooling for a few days and see what happens. If the card doesn't fix itself, something is wrong or broken.
