I have 2 40Gb HD's in my new tower. I want to install Win98 & want to know how much space to give it, 1GB, 2GB I want it to have it's own partition. Also if I have 512MB Ram how large should my swap file be? Should it be in the windows partition too? Thank's in advance. :D

Thanks. now what about the swap file, if I have 512MB Ram should it be double that amt? Which would put my partition above 1gb.

by swap for w98 are you talking paging/virtual memory, cause that should be set at default which is 1.5 x physical memory

i seem to remember havinging win98 on as small as a 512MB drive with no problem, I think you could use as little as 300MB and get an install with some left over, but 1 Gig is plenty, depending on storage needs if your just having it to have

Depends on the type of install of windows that you do (what features you install). Most Win98 installs seem to be around 220-250 mb. If you have a 40 gb hard drive have your partition 5gb and you will not have to worry about running out of space for Win98. Leave you virtual memory settings on "let Windows manage my memory"....The tip about creating your own swap file is old news that worked well under Win3.1 but once you get to Win98 it effectively managers your memory without you having to do anything.
