Does anyone here know what salt does to the thermal conductivity of water? I've found that saturated salt water won't freeze in my freezer at -5F.

No but I do know what it does to the metal parts inside pumps.

Salt water?
Perhaps if you don't mind your water block being eaten away.

salt used in water increases the range of the water, it will boil at 105 and freeze at -5, a better idea would be to use antifreeze. the salt would not be healthy for the pump

OK, what is the cheapest form of bulk alcohol I can get, cheaper than $5/gal. I've found that getting methanol for $5/gal usually involves about $6/gal for shipping. And the only place I could find it for that price was worldwideracingfuels.com as race gas. Where do you racers get your methanol?

Use isopropyl(rubbing alcohol) or antifreeze. Methanol is a little better, but not by a whole lot. Antifreeze should do nicely.

I think Antifreeze is the best solution, altough if you are doing experiences ot may become expensive, so use 20% alcohol on you water and it should work well enough.
