Thinking again, say i got one of those tube resivoirs that hang out the back, intake came in about half way up and outake was on bottom. What would keep me from poping off the top and droping an ice cube in there when im gaming or something?

One ice cube will not last long at all. When i had my resivor which was pretty big, i put 3 bags worth of ice cubs in it, lasted for about 20min running at 100%

A few ice cubes more than likely will not impact the overall system temps much. You've got to consider that by putting ice cubes in every once-and-awhile, your system will eventually fill up completely and you will need to drain some of the water out somehow. Also, if the cubes are not made from distilled water (or something of that sort), it may throw off your system's equilibrium (and may cause algae growth depending on your mixture).

Must've been pretty small bags. Did you remember to turn off the radiator fans?

I've done ~2.5gal ice bags into an ice-chest as a reservoir and found that I typically got around 1hr per bag, and that was chilling a TEC on the vid card as well.
