Yes. Looking forward to more reviews. I dled the demo, and got a bad zip file. Not going to spend 2 hours getting it again. May buy it though, as I enjoyed the first one.

Holy smokes! GTA SA is sucking up so much time I haven't even played the Demo of DG 2 yet. Darn games. At this rate I may be 100% done in time for F.E.A.R. in OCt.

Tried the Demo for maybe thirty seconds since it came on my PCGamer DVD. I just couldn't get into it like I did the first one. Maybe once I bore myself of BF 2 and WoW I'll try it. Too many games out right now or coming out that I am wanting to play.

Yeah sorry about that DS = dungeon siege 2 :)

The first one was, imho the best RPG ever created, and if 2 is simply equal to it but bigger, which it is bigger, then that will be a YES vote from me.

But from the looks of screenies, and what i saw of the demo, the game looks beautiful and huge in scope :)

I bet its a real hit - just wait and see, this one is going to be one of those highly popular games.

DS1 sucked sooooo badly. It was extreamly easy and extreamly repetative. No variety at all. DS2 looks alot like Balders Gate RPGness which is a great plus since that game had alot of variety. Only problem for me is that these games are LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

I'm confused. You list many problems with the game, then say there is only one problem. Maybe you don't like the genre, but its an rpg for crying out loud. I want my single player to take 80+hours. To top it off, the origional had multiplay also to add to it.

For its time DS had some nice scenery, and as far as no variety, it had far more environments than Diablo.

Way I see it on time: $50 game. Finish it in 80 hours you pay @ $0.63/hour for your pleasure. 4 hours and you pay $12.50/hr for enjoyment. Now granted a lot of the people here don't even have jobs, I would assume most the ones that do, don't even make $12.50 an hour.

That's why Baldur's Gate was like the coolest RPG ever. . .sooooooooooo long and such an interesting story.

I still need to try DS2 demo, the first time I downloaded it it was corrupted.

I was going to say the same thing. Its not in stores til next Tuesday.

I personally can't wait for it to come out, and really looking forward to seeing it now finished (been waiting since the first one). Even though the first one was a mindless game of hack and slash it was fun. Its like diablo with updated graphics.

I use to lvoe Diabo 2 and tried it again recently, well it wasn't horrible but it wasn't the same. I like my eye candy in games and if it doesn't have it then whats the point of nice new hardware?

Best part I though of this was the multiplayer you can play co-op. I always loved that part of the game, and glad its coming back with some new improvements in this one.

"the origional had multiplay also to add to it."

Multiplay is in sooo many old rpg games including Diablo 1. The multiplay in Dungeon Siege 1 SUCKED because for my excitment I like COOP which it didnt off on the single player maps. You had to use outside maps or the cheap ones the game was provided with. This is a great thing DS2 improved on.

The character creation in Diablo 2 allowed alot more imagination than DS1. In DS1 you just pick up or buy a spell and use it. No masteries on any spells in that game like in an D&D environment. This is also another thing DS2 improved on which I loved in Diablo 2.

Ill agree with you on the sceanery in DS1 vs Diablo 2. DS2 tops the cake even futher with sceanery.

Im trying to train myself not to stay on the PC for many hours of the day which is why I commented on the time of play hehehehehe. Im getting more into FPS type gamming cause its simplistic fast fun you can get right into without needing to spend alot of time. With RPG games, I get very into it to the point where I dont want to leave the PC for hours on hours etc etc etc.

The game rocks, my friends are really getting into it. Coop over LAN is really sweet, different gameplay COOP you can choose too! About time games support this kind of play.

Well after what I said above, yup some stores had it on shelves on Friday (went to the store to check other things). So of course had to pick it up :) Damn sweet game. Loving it dearly. Even though I'm not listening to the whole story deal right now (I will when I go back and play as a different character) but its damn good. I'm about half way through Act 2 Primaries, Secondaries I got some but non completed, and still got 1 stupid Secondary from Act 1 that I can't seem to finish where you need to collect something for a gal.

Anyways from what I've played so far, its good, much better then the first. Some good RGP elements, nice quests that send you back to areas that you previously where in.

My main is a Warrior, and now I have a nature, combat and ranger in group (just ditched my ice pet for the combat mage).

Yes you can

LAN
Internet
Gamespy

Those are the options you can choose from. LAN works just fine, I've tested it out. Want to build up my single player character before going online. Sad thing is a lot of people are already cheating as there are editors out to hack your character. People are so pathetic

Thats why i am very selective when playing online so I dont play with the little kiddies.

Man I just tried to upgrade to 2.1 patch it neglects the save game from 2.0 :( That totally sucks.... Does anyone know of a fix for this? I can still use the 2.0 exe to run my save game but if I want to play online I'm going to have to change exe's and run a new character currently (at least til I beat it and restart a new guy).

Are you sure you can use your offline char for online? I have the game but havnt tried online yet, a review at gamespot said you had to start from scratch. Any clarification?

the cheating part comes in when your saved character is stored on your harddrive and not a closed server (like diablo 2 for instance, closed realm characters are stored on blizzard servers) so editing the file lets you cheat in online games. DS1 was plagued with this problem and i'm pretty suprised they didn't change it this time around.

edit: thats what i get for posting while falling asleep, you weren't even asking about that lol my bad

man I cant play mp with this yet as its not out in UK till sept would you f****** believe it :(

Still I am enjoying the sp campaign to no end, its absolutely MASSIVE :) well worth my money [which I will spend when its released].

Well worth your money if you're a rpg fan.

I told you all they had upgraded this game to mega levels, it's going to be a really popular rpg this one.

I have heard a few people complain that the 2.1 patch messes the game up with regards to saves however?

Anyone experiencing this?

Ya look above.

Patched to 2.1, and my 2.0 save game wouldn't work (guess they changed some saving of information). I created a character with the 2.1, and switched back to 2.0 exe file. It works fine yet I acn only see my 2.0 character in 2.0 and my 2.1 in 2.1.

Im going to see about looking into the .gas files to see if theres any changes in there I can catch off the bat that will hopfully help it so I can run 2.1 with my current character which is a quest or 2 from the primary completion of act II (really hate to start over because of a simple problem).

RPG's are kinda making a comeback at the moment, but what we need is a BIG influx of new original titles..

RPG's are a really popular genre when done well...

Thing is though, rpg's kinda got taken over by mmorpg's and most of the old lovers of rpg's didn't carryon with that new genre - because they simply refused to pay to play a rpg game monthly.

I really like the genre, probably as much as FPS genre, I just wish we had some original titles on the horizon.

Still GW and DS2 will hold me for now i suppose.

:)

DS = multi-party boredom. Diablo was a much better game. Still is anyway.

I know what ya mean, I'm waiting for like Final Fantasy XII. There's also a bunch of Japanese RPG's making their way to Xbox 360, Enchanted Arms looks very interesting.

MMO's don't have the same feel as a good singleplayer RPG, I get into an RPG for the story and the progress of the main character, I don't get that in an MMO.

all i can say is this is so much deeper and broader than DS1. I'm in act 1 chapter 5... and have probably seen not even 5% of the game. The story line is actually semi-engaging this time and combat is better.

I was sorta turned off by the apparent power-gaming present at the start, as level 1 characters seemed so much more powerful than DS1's level 40 or 50 characters (doin' the same damage and all)... but then i quickly found out that you are powered up because the monsters are powered up. Level 9 bosses still eat my lunch for me (hitting for 1500 damage with Rage and it doesn't even BLINK!)

Anyways, I like the customizations. I could have 6 fighters in the party and all are different because of the paths you can take to customize your character. I like it. However, being able to branch off and go back and learn other classes actually seems to make you weaker this time rather than making you all powerful as it was before.
