I tried plugging somthing into the usb port and the device got power, but nothing happened in windows. Device manager shows nothing at all for usb ports/controllers. I went into the bios to make sure it was enabled, and there are no options whatsoever under the usb configuration tab. Any ideas what is causing this?

I had a similar problem with my asus board. I think the usb is bad. I got a usb 2.0 pci card and what a difference. I had trouble with the computer recognizing usb devices and even printing now its about ten times faster printing. Card cost me $35.00 (I had a best buy gift card) I'm sure you could find them online cheaper. The brand was Adaptec. Good luck
