problem with pc

A m8 of mine recently got a new pc his dad built for him it has the following specs-

Proc- Intel Pentium 4 520 Prescott 2.80ghz LGA775

Mobo- Gigabyte 8IPe775/-G

GFX Card- RADEON 9250 AGP 8.0

RAM- 512MB PC3200 DDR-SDRAM

these are the specs if u need any others just ask now to the problem,

While in windows and while playing games the screen randomnly freezes there is a beep the screen goes of then reinitializes, then it just goes back to what was on the screen, it happens more in games than in windows and seriously impairs any gaming whatsoever.

Hardware failing perhaps... see an answer.
Tried the GFX in another machine to exclude it from the equation.
Gone thru the usual steps, of hardware checking?
Checked the PSU, i know i know.. it always comes up. btw what brand/make is it.
