Running win2k
I have just used drive image pro for the first time. Great, but my sys now wants to boot with a VFLOPPY drive all the time. I have to press a key to boot from C drive. I have uninstaled drive image with no change. I cant see where the boot instruction is to change this.
Their should be an option in the bios to set your boot devices.
What about the boot.ini file could that help?
Start button - run - boot.ini

There is nothing in the boot ini refering to this. Its very strange. I know drive image has created a Vertual floppy drive, but where has it put it. As drive image is no longer on the sys it must be in the bootup files somewhere. The instruction is coming straght after the bios, looks like its the first boot instruction from windows.
If it is is coming right after the bios then it can't be windows because windows isn't loaded yet. Check in your bios. I don't know about drive image but check the bios and set the boot order to boot from the hardrive first and not to boot from the Floppy at all. it might help. If it is already set to boot from the hardrive then you might have to Check the Drive Image FAQ on there website. I hope this helps. If not I am sure someone here will be able to help.
if there is nothing in your boot.ini then ghost could have modified your system partition boot sector, if so you could boot into your RC from your CD and just type: Fixboot

"Boot into RC" how do I do this please?
edit
Ah I got you "Recovery Console" .
Thanks m8 I have just tryed that and its just the same. This is proving to be a bit of a nightmare.
well try booting into your RC and typing: Fixmbr which will repair the MBR section of the boot sector,
u could also check you regestry Run| RunOnceEX, Run Services,RunOnce I do doubt it(the prob) is in these, but y not check

Cheers Turd I think you have hit the nail on the head. It says the mbr is non-standard BUT it also says if I fix the mbr this Could cause my partitions to be unusable. How likely is this? as I have information on this partition that can not be lost.
dont know how likely, I think if you create a ERD before doing this you should be able to undo anything you do. to make ERD, and see what this is, type at START | RUN | Open |: cmd then :ntbackup Just follow the prompts from here and check to back up your RegHives it will place all this and some links on one floppy, which you can repair restore with to your last config at time of ERD creation. you should have one of these and update it with any system/changes/installs anyway, will save lots of trouble, worth it
I think the could become unusable refers to the fact that a program(the removed ghost) might be booting and needing mbr the way it is to boot, so, changing mbr, you could not boot, but ghost is gone???
of course this is MS and yes by repairing your mbr with all the precautions you could still lose.....do you feel lucky?
