i have just bought Volcano 6 cu+ from a swapmeet for A$35, US$17.5, good value? anyway i also seen this dragon orb for A$48, US$24, is that good value as well?

oh yes my real question, which is better out of both? itz both rate at 7000 rpm and copper base, and the dragon orb one looks so so cool!!, and it looks like itz got more copper than the Volcano one, but i had heard from pplz saying that orb all suck, is this one an exception? and also the second reason i didn't buy it ish because itz way way too heavy. if itz good and ?? better than mine volcano one, and some day i might just want to buy it, wat do i have to do to make sure it will stays there without falling off or break the socket. is silicon compound enough to hold it?

I've never used the dragon orb but I'd be surprised if anything (mass manufactured air cooled heat sink) is better than the 6cu+. My temps dropped through the floor when I upgraded from my Volcano II!

Dragon Orb 3 is LOUD and the Volcano 6 CU+ is ok. General rule of thumb is to avoid Thermaltake products because for the most part they all suck. Don't let yourself be fooled by specs and supposed "rated up to X.XGHz". My Super Mini Orb is like rated up to 1.2 or 1.3GHz it doesn't even keep my T-bird 900 below 42 degrees C. Around 47 degrees C at full load. Get a Thermalright SK-6, Alaska Silver Mountain, or the new Alpha and be happy.

if you ming looking here http://www.overclockers.com/articles427/ then you will see that the dragon orb 3 doesnt suck, its actually quite good. it beats out alot of the other name brand heatsinks out there even though it "sucks".

The Dragon Orb 3 Copper is OK & is better than some Globalwin product & it's really not that loud. I'm pretty happy with mine for now:cool:

D-Orb is great till the fan fails. There are a lot of Peeps in Sharkyforums talking about this a month ago.

It's the better of Thermaltake's stock, that's about it. The article is 4 months old to the day, and as you can see with the articles they have now, they got rid of the static block and P3s and now use much higher end/higher heat CPUs for testing newer HSFs.

Check the list of recommend Socket A hsfs on the front page...the link is pretty much right at the top of the page there. :)

Dragon Orb 3 is better then the 6CU+. A bit more expensive (about +12$ Canaidian). It's weight might be a proble, because it might damage your zif socket if your mobo is proped vertically, and it's weight might cuz your cpu core to be squished. It's size is also a problem

The 6CU+ is a very good heatsink for it's price/performace and installation. It's not that big, and it's pretty easy to install. (Just make sure if your installing and using a screwdriver, then put about 10 layers of electrical stape right next to the socket (It'll save your life; usually when installing the screwdriver will slip, and with the electrical tape, it'll just scrape onto the hard layers instead of killing your mobo)

The noise from my 6CU+ is pretty much a loud wooshing noise. Like one of those big 16 inch ossilating fans you got at home. It's not as bad as the delta (a loud screeching noise), but you gotta pay the price for a 7000 rpm fan. The DO3 I heard was also loud, but since I don't have one, or never heard one, I can't compare for ya

I suggest you either use the 6CU+ or another h/f, because the DO3 is just so damn clunky. And you can prolly get a better heatsink for it's price and troubles. Alpha, SK6, OCZ, bah.

the DO3 is i think 38 db so its not loud at all.
