to raid or not to raid...

that is the question.

i got myself a Maxtor 200GB 7200RPM 16MB cache drive finnally, and i want to know, should i put it in raid with the other maxtor drive or keep them seperate? the other drive is not a 16mb cache, it is a 8mb cache. that is my question, lets see what i should do now

i dont think raid would work as both drives have to be the same

i dont think they do.....i think you can raid any 2 drives, but it will go from the lowest amount of GB....did it with my 20 and 80 in families rig when i was bored, it only showed up at 40GB total.....20 from small and 20 from large.....it didnt use the rest of the 80

what i wanna know (as i didnt make it so clear) is; is the performance of the 16mb drive going to be affected as it is put in a raid with a 8mb drive?

Ofcourse it will be affected, it'll perform like the other drive's 8MB cache.
