Plextor Dvd+-RW Drive

I have had this drive for at least a year and have not used to dvd burning feature that much. I notice now that it seems like when using my Memorex Dvd-R blank cd's and trying to burn through nero my burn process fails a lot. Usually i am burning a dvd movie or data. Does this mean my dvd burner is broken or am i using a bad batch of dvd's? I was also wondering if i should be using dvd+r or not.

if it works fine with other media, I'd be inclined to saw its the media. If not it may be the drive, or an issue with the software
