Alright so i've been trying to install windows xp for the past day or so and it kept giving me sata driver problems so i fixed that. then it gave me some other error about my hard drive being corrupted so i fixed that. then i was trying to copy the i386 folder on my windows cd to my hard drive and in the middle of copying it shut off. when i tried to turn the computer back on it'd flicker on for a second and then shut off. The only thing that would stay on is the motherboard light in the bottom right corner. I left it alone over night and now nothing happens (not even for a second) when i turn on the power supply, except the motherboard light which turns on. I took the components out of the case and set it up on a cardboard box and the same thing happened. I think that the PSU might be dead but it is still turning on the motherboard light. Any advice? Thanks!

I would definitely try a new PSU. It doesn't need to be very powerful just to test with so even a 250watt that is known good would work. I have a spare 250watt PSU just for that purpose.

Ok I tried a new PSU and the same thing happened (nothing starts up and just the green light on the motherboard is lit). Does that mean it's the motherboard?

It could be the video card or procesor as well. Only way to find out is to test everything.

Well wouldn't the motherboard try to post even if the video card or CPU were bad?

Posting without a CPU would depend on the motherboard. And unless your motherboard has a diagnositc display/lights how would you know if it was posting with a dead video card?
