question on laptop ram

friend of mine has 512mb of ddr2 in her lappy - question is
if its 2x 256 mb should she buy a 1gig stick off the egg and use it w/the 256? or sell em both and buy 2x 512mb

and if she has a 512.. id obviously just buy another 512! brand doesnt havta matter right?

it depends if the laptop has dual channel or not. if it does than you should get 512x2, otherwise go with 1gig+256. the brand shouldn't matter
