Hello, I have an:
AMD 1400-266 CPU
Spacewalker AK31 Mainboard

My question is:
I thought that amd athlon cpus were locked,
and could be unlocked by closing the L1 bridges.

In the bios if I switch my multiplyer higher.
The cpu Mhz registers higher!
This means that it is not locked?

What is the explanation?
Did I not understand something?
Are these AMD 1400-266 cpu supposed to be locked?

Is there a reason why 1200-266 through 1400-266 cpus
are unlocked?

Because A.M.D. finally opened their ears and removed heads out of their butts.:D

AMD sometimes kills the CPU's when they laser cut the bridges... or so some people say....
Also it is one less step in the manufactoring process, thus lower costs to make a CPU....

Doesnt really matter what the reason is.... if you got an unlocked CPU, just :)
