Do all routers work with dsl....I ask this because my dsl (Verizon) wont take a router, I tried a netgear rt314 router and it wont work on my second comp..So i returned and got a hub and it worked fine, am i doing something wrong or do some high speed internet providers wont let you use routers, oh and by the way I have a dynamic ip

Well with some routers they need to have the lastest frim wire verisons, or atleast thats what my problem was. I used a Linksys 4 port router.

My advice is go to a router

or...
go to a switch cause they are better than a hub.

Do you know the VCI and VPI for Verizon. You more than likely need to know these in order for a router to work on DSL.

well the one you have should work.

its most likely the setup you missed something or are doing something wrong. or the firmware like they mentioned.

there are a few varitations between the seting up of routers with different versions of dsl.

like mines pppoe so i have to put in my login and everything.:)

hope you figure out the problem my fellow atlantian:)

I have Verizon as well and tried the Netgear router...no go..tried everything. I have been working on networks a long time. Seems there is something about that router that doesn't like DSL. Got a Linksys DSL router and everything works great now.
