View Full Version : How to get glue off your video card? (pics)

hi all i just took the heatsink off my tnt2 ultra card and got a new heatsink and now i am left with this glue, it is almost epoxy like and it is in a few gobs on the chip,they arent flat and they even stick up a little..and i dont know how to get it off! any help on this is greatly appreciated!

use a razor blade. i just pulled the crappy hsf off my radeon 64mb ddr and had to scrape all the epoxy off too, razor blade did the trick.


now to work on my ramsinks:)

just try to peel it off
tweezers or something

light it with a match,it will burn off! just kidding .I would try alcohol and a razor

Nail Polish remover works nicely.

I'd try all the good suggestions above, and then maybe sand it on a flat surface. Takes off the epoxy and flattens the chip surface so you get a better contact with a heatsink. Just don't sand too much!:)

i've just got bak from a local store where i bought mine epoxy glue, and asked the same queation, they show me this tube of ^%^ and it says glue remover, you should able to pick it up for bout A$4 or US$2.

Nail Polish remove works pretty good. Just take a Q-tip soaked in it and rub away. You can then lap it some but be VERY careful with that. Make sure you don't knock anything off the card and don't get crazy like I did and try to lap to the copper like I'd seen others do. After days and days of sanding, I killed my card and never did get to the copper.

worked awesome for me! nail polish.. 99 cents at the store hehe..
works on alot of other **** too
