heh,heh you were checking out that link to that metal site wasnt you? Me too,lol I was wondering the same thing, there was a link here somewhere before that had thermal properties of metal listed but i cant find it.Im trying to find somewhere to buy a piece of silver to make a base of a heatsink.

if your into defacing money then just get an american eagle coin and sand it down. they are 99.999% pure silver. you could probably find one for $6. the us mint releases quite a few into circulation via distributers each year. you can get old worn down peace dollars and morgan dollars for cheap too. not really the nicest thing to do to a piece of history but it would probably do wonders for cooling.

check this link for the periodic table of elements showing thermal conductivity. The bigger the balls the better. Don't laugh at that phrase because i can't think of a better way to describe it at this moment.
From best on downaward are:
Silver > copper > gold > aluminum > so on.....
thermal conductivity of the elements (http://www.webelements.com/webelements/properties/text/image-balls/thermal-conductivity.html)
By the way hold your mouse pointer over the ball to see what element it is.

in that article Hoot has posted to the top of the cooling forum, dave goes into which metal transfers heat better and why, but burning phoenix has it right...

the differenc between silver and copper is very small, not justfifing the price
