Help please help, someone please take the time to answer this problem i
have.

I have trouble installing Windows XP Pro and i get an error message:

stop c0000218 system registry file failure
the registry cannot load the hive (file)
\systemroot\system32\config\software
or its log alternative
it is corupt, absent or not writeable

Also i get this sometimes:

windows cannot start because the following file is missing or corrupt
\windows\system32\config\system

when i manage to install if i restart i get the first error mesage.
Please help as i don't know what to do, a friend says it may be a problem on
my Creative Ge-Force3 video card as he has the same make (creative)

The same thing happened to me:

the following file is corrupt:

windows/whatever/whatever/system

Please reboot with the CD and repair it from there.

I couldn't fix it so I just freaken reinstalled. I haven't had the problem since.

I just installed it last night. So far so good. Except 3D performance seems a bit slower as of right now. Probobly just's needs a little tweaking. Now I got something new to play with.

Had all kind of problems with the same things, even tried a "new" XP-cd, same ****. Bluescreens and warnings all the way.
The solution, at least for me: Upgraded BIOS from WW to 3R, everything running fine since then:) Great OS!!

The only bad thing; No more CPU-idling support in R3 :(
CPU-temp (idling), rised remarkably, from 28C to 42C, watercooled!! But won´t go any higher than 46-47C at full load, so I´m quite happy though.
But will switch my home-made w-block with a spiral type from fixitt, hopefully getting lower temps......

I forgot to mention that after the error i get i cannot get into windows from safe mode or anything.

Also i have solved the problem now and think it was down to my video card as i have installed the creative Ge-Force3 drivers (21.85) and had no problems whatsoever.

Hope this helps out someone else

Thanks all.

PS. These drivers are based on the NVIDIA DetonatorXP ones but could have a Creative specific problem ironed out. Anyone confirm this?
