I've posted this in the new members thread, but I REALLY need some help on this, quick.

I need to get the screensaver off of my computer, 100%, so it doesn't screw up my credit. I've been folding for almost a week, just found out it corrupts my user whatevers, and keep trying to get it off the computer.

I de-installed it, but it left a copy in my screensaver file. I don't know how to get it out. It is no longer my default screensaver, but I'm afraid it might still screw up my file.

I especially want this to work, so I start getting credit in time for v2...

Does this make sense?
Help!

this is how to search for screensavers in win2k. should work for 98 and me as well.
-go to search
-then click search options
-then select type
-in the pull down box look for screensaver
-select it and hit seach

if this doesnt work search for *.scr which will also bring up all screen savers.

this should bring up all screen savers. you can delete then from here as well.

otherwise there might be a folder in your program files called folding@home which you can delete.

in the registry there is probably a key under pandegroup which you can also delete.

that should take care of it

First of all don't worry about 2.0 yet. ;) You will probably have to uninstall the current version first or at least delete the directory. The beta installer is a bit touchy like that and my guess is that the final release will be just as touchy.

About the screensaver--- edit- Ebola beat me to it. I didn't have an answer anyway. ;) Just that it wouldn't matter. It still shows up in my display settings. (I did the same exact thing) and it hasn't hurt anything yet.

If you want to know if you are getting credit then open the client.cfg file in the folding@home folder. Where it says email= It should have your folding name with the team name like this
email=mrilock (www.overclockers.com). If this is what you see then stop. You're done. If not there is more....

If it says email=cs-sdk then you will have to shut down the client and then you can manually edit the client.cfg file by placing your name where it says cs-sdk(This is the default username, named after the software kit that was used to create the client)
Once that is done then you can restart the client and it should work fine. You can use notepad to efit the client or you can simply delete this file, restart the client, and reenter your information and it will be fine. Either way.

Ebola,
Thanks for that tip. I did the search for .scr and finally deleted the fah screensaver. Not that it was bothering me, just was curious and it worked. :) I never use a screensaver anyway. :p

Woohoo!

Finally, got all that crud deleted, and manually configured the client.cfg file. Sure enough, it had the wrong email. :(
Luckily, (kinda, even though this means I lost all those WU's...), I'm only 5 frames from finishing another WU. So at least I will be on the charts now...

Thanks all! Maybe I can finally stop whining :)

mrilock,
Good job so far, I just read that and I thought I should ask. Did you enter an email address where it says email??? If not then all is well and you should start receiving credit for you work soon. If so..... The stats system, in an effort to prevent spammers from harvesting your email address, does not post anything after the "@" symbol which means anything after that symbol will be ignored. It's best to not use an actual email address but instead use the name that you want to use.
Your name can appear for example
yourname (www.overclockers.com)
or mrilock (www.overclockers.com)

Before you know it you'll be recruiting every PC you can find (friends, family, etc) to Fold. :p

I'm trying to get my mom to get dsl on her computer... then she'll be folding 24/7 :-)

And once I save up for a router....
And for OSX...

Then I can have my mac folding 24/7

That isn't too bad :-)

And of course I'm trying to save up to build another pc, so who knows :-)
