First, if I use one as a voltage divider, input 12v output to fan of 1a or less, and grounded. What wattage tolerance would I need?
I bellieve that given w=i*v I would need a 12w potentiometer (the most power disp is when it is turned to full impedence, and acts as a resistor, thus w=i*v applies.
Where can I get a potentiometer with this spec, all I've been able to find are .5w and 2w pots. Could I just slap a big ol P4 heatsink to the back of them (I plan to use 4 of them) and let it absorb the heat?
