I currently have a Game Theater XP and was wondering if I should upgrade to the Audigy.
Any input would be helpful.

Are you not happy with your sound currently?

Well... You know...
I wanted the best one, and I just got the Game Theater XP about a month ago.
I don't usually have the funds to do $100 + upgrades, so I try to make the best purchase I can.

The XP is one of the best cards you can get currently. I don't think it'd be worth upping to the Audigy, one of the main selling points seem to be the fact it has 24-bit sound, it actually downmixes this to 16bit so the difference would be negligible. If you'd had say an SB128 or something similar I'd have recommended an upgrade but unless you really wanna burn your cash I wouldn't bother.

The Game Theater XP and Audigy have similar sound quality, but the Game Theater has all those nifty plug points and is a lot better in usefullness. There's no need to upgrade to an Audigy, but if you do I'll buy you're Game Theater XP

Well, I read reviews from alot of places, including PC GAMER.
The Audigy beats the Game Theater, but I found a way to hook up the Audigy "through" the Game Theater so that I can use the Game Theater's rack.
I may sell the Game Theater, I don't use the external rack for anything besides the headphone jack.

Beats it in what exactly? sound quality? api's supported?. The sound quality issue depends a whole lot on your speaker setup. The XP supports all current popular api's. Is it really worth ditching a perfectly good sound card a month old for this? And c'mon it's not like the SBLives have a really good rep or anything....

True, the LIVE cards had a rough start.
I went from a SB16 to a SB32, to a Monster sound, then to the MX300, Game Theater to Audigy.
The tech on the card is rather promising, the sound transition effects on Clive Barker's Undying were not the smoothest on the Game Theater, the Audigy cleared it up and handles EAX2 better.
But that's OK, I am using both.
