I copied and pasted strait from his IM:

I just bought these two of these subs: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-NEW-SONY-XPLOD-12-2600w-CAR-AUDIO-SUBWOOFERS-SUBS_W0QQitemZ5801733605QQcategoryZ50572QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
and I was wondering what amp to use. I had this amp picked out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-LANZAR-VIBE268-2CH-CAR-AMP-AMPLIFIER-2000W-AMP-139_W0QQitemZ5800586961QQcategoryZ18796QQssPageNam eZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
(I know its not a kicker or a rockford) it is 2000 watts and has 500 rmsx2. I was wonderign if this was to much for those sonys and I should just go smaller up for suggestions ect.. thanks

how much did you pay for the sony xplodes? (i used to own the 15" version)

on the subject of the amp, i would go with a more trusted brand. whats your location? i may be able to hook you up

Theres no way that amp can push that kind of wattage. Its no different than a PC power supply a 300w fortron is better than a 500w generic. Tell him to get a nice 400w amp, it will sound better and it will be more reliable.

I can't suggest either Power acoustik nor Lanzar. Both are low-mid quality amplifiers. If your looking for decent amps at a good price, JBL does the job.

Vibe are crap. IMO, If you can get a Lanzer OPTI amp I would choose over the power acoustic.

JBL are crap unless you get a JBL/crown.

For subs a good quality amp is a must. You get what you pay for. Cheap amps are a sure way of ruining good subs.

Buy a mono alpine amp....you won't be happier. They test each of their amps before leaving the factory and they are often 10% or more above spec. Unlike most amps, alpine will actually put out the power they advertise....and it will make a big difference.

Invisible has a good point. Alpine mono sub amps are very clean and very smooth. But, when I had mine it lacked a bit of attack that some of the other amps that are known to be a bit more powerful give(Cough, RF, Cough). Yeh, I know that RF amps arent that great now. But, for the money you pay for them on ebay and online retailers... theyre pretty dang good. Find you a good RF or Alpine on the bay or google rockford fosgate and the amps series you want and you will find some good deals if you arent happy with the PA.
