I just bought a 1.4 ghz T-Bird with an ECS K7S5A mobo - combo deal at Fry's for $159 this last weekend.
Everything seems to be running fine, but this new mobo doesn't have a second sys_fan connector (three prong). it has one for the CPU fan, of course, and one sys_fan near the front of the case ( connector is low and to the right on the mobo)...but my case, an Antec, has a fan in the front (air flow in) and one (not the power supply) fan in the back (air flow out).
As it stands now, i have the fan in the front of the case connected with air flow coming in, and only the power supply fan to exhaust the air out!...and the other fan in my case not connected, cause i don't know how to get power to it. did the install yesterday.
OK, here's the stupid questions part...
1. do i need to worry about using the other case fan? obviously the makers of the mobo didn't think so.
2. my old mobo (Iwill KK266) can support this new CPU, and has a second system fan connector...should i just go back to this board? is it better than the ECS K7S5A? Does the Iwill have better overclocking potential? where can i find info on how to tweak this board?
3. given i stay with the ECS K7S5A mobo, how do i get power to the second case fan? Do i need/want even more air flow than the two fans in my case now? where can i find overclocking info on this board?
Thanks in advance!
I've gotten lots of good info from Overclockers.com, great site, but none of the articles have said how to connect any additional fans to the power supply or the mobo? I'm wondering how the voltage gets regulated to all the fans some people run with their cases that have been modified?
Sorry if this is a stupid question...thanks again!
