View Full Version : " XP 1800+ " I am impressed [or easily impressed]
Just got my new XP, slapped it in and got a massive 15 degrees lower temp. That alone impressed me. It is whipping along without a care in the world, which by the way, makes me suspicious. Don't you ever get the feeling that just as all is well the **** hits the fans and BOOM ?!?
There's a new kind of smell....it's not burning, it kinda reminds me of food....weird :o(
I know my fan is not the best but it seems to be doing it's job. I have the Coolermaster 6H11 [they say it goes 1700+] I am concerned.
I got sooo excited that I didn't consider the fan, I just took out the 1.4 and bunged in the XP 1800+. Yikes...I am totally panicked now, I'm gonna check the temps again.
Doh!

15degrees lower... than a tb 1.4... very cool...
Interesting - I noticed my new XP's run cooler, but I have some MP's that don't run cooler at all. I wonder if the new packaging has something to do with this?
I think the packaging has got something to do with it for sure. Aren't they using the same organic stuff as Intel now for heat disipation?

Andy, it varys between operating systems used. On Windows 98SE I can see a big difference when using graphics packages, less difference than when using Win2K... Gaming seems to be the oposite way round, go figure!
I am told that if I were to put WinXP on that is when I would see an overall big difference, but I have not done that yet so I wouldn't know.
For me it is the feel and stability of my system now it has the XP inside it. It does fly along yes, but it feels as though it won't trip up at all.
The best has been the lower temps....I just knew that buggering T-Bird was causing my heat problems. I haven't even got a great fan on it yet, wait until I nick the Glaciator off of Paul, yummy :o)

My temps are averaging 10 cooler, and I'm on XP.
Yes, you are definately correct about the "humming" along, it's so schweet!
