Will folding@home automatically dial up to send info back and recieve more? Also can you close the folding@home console in the middle of working say at frame 50 without loseing all the work then start it up again later?

Hey I'm on frame 61 for my first work unit! Dang this takes longer then I thought it would.

You can close it without losing the alredy completed frames. I don't know whether you lose the partial frame that you're working on.

Yes you can set it up to automatically send work, and also close the connection when it is done. You can do this thru "tools" located in your top menu bar, or thru a program called Electronic Microscope, EM for short. As for shutting down the program, if you hit control+c, you can shut down the program without a problem. If you want some help setting it up to auto connect/disconnect let me know.

Em can be found here. (http://www.overclockers.ws/folding/links.html)

Welcome to the folding team! The answer to your first question is a provisional yes- if you selected "no" when the setup program asked if it needed to ask permission to connect. If you don't remember, you can open the client.cfg file in notepad and check:

[settings]
email=T. J. (www.overclockers.com)
server=folding.stanford.edu
port=10101
ask=no
userid=***************

And yes, you can stop the console anytime by pressing CTRL C.
It will pick up where you left off when you reopen it. Actually, W2K seems to let you just close the window without losing anything, but I wouldn't trust it with my hard-earned work units.

Again, welcome, and fold on!

guess I was too slow. Anyway, as you can see, there are several ways to accomplish things!

Thanks everyone!

One problem though every single time I go to log on I have to type in my password the one thats in there and saved is wrong. I'm using 2kpro and I think it keeps putting in my user password anyone know how to fix that problem. I've tried setting up the internet access again and opening new user accounts and saving the correct password but everytime it changes back to another incorrect login pass.

*edit* This question is concerning seting up the box to dial so it can send and recieve info when I'm away.

Ah never mind it looks like this is a 2kpro protection issue I guess I'll have to fold with 98se.
