Went to Best Buy after gettin paid. And the last one on the shelf...

So far, the installation is underway... and lookin to try BF2, music, and movies. This post will be edited as necessary, so stay in touch. I will also try to take requests as I have been using my onboard for gaming, my AV-710 for music via optical. I shall also post pictures here and there.. wee!

Ok.. So i have installed it and got it working. the drivers proved to be a slight issue when tryin to setup BF2... but nothin major. As far as everyone else is suggesting, the crystalizer is kinda neat, but it is a preference moreso than a boost. Given, it adds a certian amount of treble to songs or what not, but too much can cause distortion.

Doom 3 is about the same.. as with or without EAX.. i never noticed too much of a difference to care. Will be tryin HL2 when i get it installed and what not... prolly even source.

Now, to me, i personally like the bay of the platinum.. and since workin at best buy helps... i didnt mind splurging for it.

I have to give props as the positional audio is good, and currently have yet to try the digital outs. I still have onboard and the Chaintech AV-710 installed to compare it to.

Well going from on-baord to the X-fi will be a big difference. I'm waiting to see another view on someone gonig from a Audigy 2 ZS to the X-fi.

Also, from what i have been reading, only the 2 highest models will have the 64mb of Xram.. even mine is still the standard 2mb i believe.

So far, i cant hear a difference in the optical outputs with the exception of the X-Fi's crystalizer. When enabling it, it sounds brighter, more pronounced in the upper frequencies. Doing analog shortly
