looking for accounting software for home network

I have 2 roommates and I want start using a program to keep track of our bills and how much each has paid, owed, etc. I've never used accounting software before so I'm not really sure what is out there. I just need something simple and hopefully inexpensive. Also, I would like to be able to use it on any computer on the network. Like if the program saved everything in a file that can be accessed on a network drive. I was looking at Quickbooks, the $99 version but I'm looking for something alot cheaper and it's only good for one computer.

Tried setting up a database or spreadsheet with details? Might be the cheap and easy way :-P

I was thinking that too, my roommate did an Excel spreedsheet but it's not easy to look at though. It can do calculations so we might use it. I also tried Quicken and that was too complicated.
