I just spent over an hour typing a post asking for help. When I hit the button to submit, it kicked me back to the login page and lost my whole post! I think I'm gonna go cry for a while before attempting that post again.

Yeah, well, it's my own fault. ALWAYS copy a long post before hitting the submit button. Right?

Thanks for the welcome. :)

Thats actually happened to me many a times on various php forums. I tend to be anal and put a large post in a good text editor or even Word to check spelling etc.

And if you "lost" the post, try hitting the back button. Some browser are kind enough to keep your original post so you could try to resubmit. Do select it all and copy it first.

Yes, I tried the back button. No luck. It was gone. Well, I made n00b mistake and got what I deserved.

it helps being able to type. Unless you have short-term memory lost..then it sucks.

It's the personification of evil. Especially my 21" hitachi.

If I post a long post I tend to 'back it up' to OpenOffice or an Editor first :-P.

Also this made me laugh:

Usually when you click the back button it goes there, the way you had it, without re-loading.

The first time I saw the thread title, my first thought was this thread was going to be a flame and rant against noob who tried to WC his PC by dunking the whole thing in the water.

Just use notepad. :) save a lot of pain later. you also can spend the day creating your post and not have to worry about how fast to type or what you wanted to say.

LOL, I have done similar, but not like that. accidentally clicked X instead of minimize because if other pages I had been viewing for info. :)

Because our monitor displays something we dont want to see. So therefor its the monitors fault. If it would just show things that we always wanted maybe we wouldnt attack them.

The monitor is our access to our computer, we interact with it constantly; every command we use, we can see reflected on the screen. You are interacting with the computer, but the tower just....sits there, doing a whole lot of nothing, so we direct our anger at the "computer."

That, and maybe if we tear up the monitor, it will save us a lot of money on rebuilding the computer (in some people's cases, $1500 computer vs $400 monitor, if you got angry enough). I'd rather lose the monitor, especially since their prices are dropping so rapidly. Hell, I might just smash this one as an excuse to get a bigger one :D (I'm kidding)

this has happened to me like yesterday. i was sending a pm, i had written it out all nice and neat. and boom. i click the refresh button, why? i have no idea, but boy did i wanna punch my parents hp built p4 3.0e. i tend to give their box a nice foot tap, as its on the floor near my feet. ive seen what hitting a monitor can do, my friend punched a dell LCD monitor, and it looked like it got shot with a gun, truely a funny thing.

but long post short. i still dont copy long posts, but now that i see this thread, i think i will

and BTW! :welcome: !

I learned this lesson the hard way also. However, I don't use IE much at all, and I only use firefox for forums with the sessionsaver extension installed so that it reloads any pages I was on.

I also copy/paste large posts into notepad before submitting.

And doesn't it seem that when you retype a post, it doesn't turn out the same way you know that you had it before?
