View Full Version : Hmm...everythings slow.
hmm....I dont really know whats going on guys. I keep lagging while playing games and stuff.
I know its something to do with one of my computers, its not the network because my brother only gets this lag when my computers on.
Now, i've run anti-virus, run spybot and adware. I have ad-watch going. Cleaned my registery, Used TCPView to make sure i dont have anything sending over the internet, and thats clean.
What could be going on ?

What type of connection do you have ?
I'm running Cox Cable. 5Mbps Download, 512k Upload.
I'm starting to think this is a problem with my router because it keeps resetting a lot randomly now...Think this would cause crazy ping spikes?

No one is using P2P software on the network are they? Also try to get a router from someone to test, and try and change the cables. Also what do you have for a network card, is it onboard or a PCI card?

We finally figured out our problem, a cat5 cable that runs to my sons computer got chewed a bit by the dog, when it would short out the router would have a fit and cut him off but for awhile the rest of us had slow internet.
Ok i have narrowed it down to the computer because i shut it down when we were both playign and his ping stop spiking. But its wierd, my virusscan doesnt pick anything up, nor does spybot...
arghhh!!?
help
I think i might just do a good wipe of the hard drive.
I havn't done a reformat for 6months anyways...Just got a 250GB external drive to. I'll only backup the stuff i know 100% is clean. The stuff i've downloaded off bearshare (old versions of programs no longer hosted online) i think could be the programs which have the virus's on them.
