Can glue from a glue gun be at solid state on a running GF2 Pro? Because I wanna put a P3 heatsink on it!

I seriuosly doubt it.

If I were you I'd use superglue- much more reliable

or silicon, it is easy to remove and holds well

Thermal epoxy from Arctic Silver.

I wouldn't use glue from a glue gun because it would probably be impossible to get it flat enough for the heatsink to actually touch the GPU. The best would probably be Arctic Silver adhesive but unless you mix it right you'll never get the thing back off. The super glue trick works.

Hey guys! I am going to stick my heatsink onto the gpu by putting glue on the side so the thermal grease won't be lost! Look at the jpeg!

Even if it did not melt,
I doubt it.

How is hot melt glue going to hold
a P3 heatsink on the card?
I think it is not strong enough.

- Use, Arctic Silver Thermal Epoxy like
Oni recommended.

You are safe. Once the hot glue cools, it does NOT conduct electricity. I was lloking at a friends computer on Monday to see of we could do any upgrades, and I commented that there were spider webs in his case. He replied "Nope, just some jackass getting over zealous with a glue gun."

The Place he ordered his machine from HOT GLUES EVERYTHING in place so it won't shake lose during shipping.... and I mean everything, cables, plugs, cards, vid cards, PSU plug... EVERYTHING.

Alot of the glue is directly touching contacts. I was shocked... but his system has no adverse effects. Glue away my friend. Although, I do not think the glue will hold as well as you may think. It is worth a try though.

Its all good.....

Try this!

my concern would be the glue from the glue gun drying up and not holding anymore... I think super glue or thermal epoxy of some brand would be better....

Though I use it on my motherboard to hold voltage mods in place, I would have the same concerns already expressed.

1) getting a good solid contact throughout the area of the GPU.

2) As the glue is temp activated and seems to have a relatively low melting point and is somewhat flexible, I would question the wisdom of using it to hold any critical cooling solution.

Superglue does work well. You can't get through the back of the card? I put a OCZ Dominator on my Leadtek GF2 32 meg and it never gets much over 40c at 263. Tapped the heatsink from the back of the card and pulled it onto the GPU. This allowed me to completely cover the lapped GPU with Arctic Silver.

You can put it on anything you want in a circuit. ( I have done this) Don't put it under the sink, rather put the sink in place and then inject the glue. Hold firm pressure on the sink until glue is dry.

I would be afraid of it getting hot enough to make the glue gun glue get soft. The suggestion to use slicone sealant sounds good to me.

DUCT TAPE IT!!!! Like they say, "If you can't duck it, forget about it" .... or something to that effect.....

Must say that the "duct tape" reply was funny. And this is why I do not work for Intel.

Supposedly new high efficiency heat sink. YS fan on it is too loud for me so am running it at 7v. Tried playing with it as I had heard of some getting 6000 3DMK2001 out of it but alas it is not to be. The best that I have gotten out of it so far with the new detonator drivers is 5475. This is at 1024x768x16. Am not interested in overvolting it or other extreme mods as I do realize that it is not one of the fastest cards around. I do think that this is a decent score given what the card is. BTW I get almost exactly 1000 points less at 32 (4450).
