With all the work I have done on all the systems around this place, I never once bothered to look into the temps on my (old) PIII-600.... OUCH!!! 132deg at idle and 144 under "soft" load.

I have tried triple fan heatsinks, single monster fan heatsinks and more air going through the case than a blondes head on a jogging track! To no avail......

What is NORMAL for this hot-blooded bastage? This can't be right. I checked the logs on it from as far back as January of last year and it appears it has ALWAYS run that hot!!??

Is this normal? I think not! Anyone else been in this spot?

(the reference to a blonde jogger was not meant to offend or imply that blonde are empty headed, it was mearly a stereotypical joke as a reference point and comedy. If I have offended any blonde individuals, I whole heartedly appaulogise

I hope you mean Farenheit......

Or you've a faulty temp. sensor. Those temps would make a PIII shut down.

My PIII 600 @ 630 is only at 49 degrees.

that is really hot around 50-55 c if I am correct, way to hot for a intel chip, what HSF do you use, just becous it's big dosen't mean it's effective. And the 3 fan HSF's from what I have seen are never verry good.

I will have to chech the fan brand when I get home tonight. I gotta run soon.

Umm... now I wonder if I should trust MBM 5 or my BIOS? The Bios is the one showing the high temps... Installing MBM 5 shows that the temp stays around 92 F to 98 F ... which should I trust?

That is what I figured.... Gees I wish I had a temp probe I could verify with! LOL

yeah I'd definately go with the BIOS reading
is your cpu overvlocked or something? because a friend of mine with a P3 600 gets temperatures of 20-29C.

Nope, not overclocked... I have just put it through hell for the past two years.... If I worked as hard as this system I would need disability insurance!

Time to set up another system......
