Strange thing happened last night my girl was on the internet searching for something on a search engine.when she went to Write in the search someone else was writing some kind of letter or something.so first thing I thought is I have a trogen in my computer.so I did a netstat and found that no one was connected to my computer. Then I just figured that that the search engine sight might be having problems. So I told her not to worry about it.So she went on to finish up some homework and opened up word and it happened in there to!!I shut down my modem and it was still happening (cable modem) it didn't stop until I unscrewed the cable from my modem. One point I want to make is that when I switched over to windows xp I was automatically on line and didn't have to go trough the registration with my username and pass(which I thought was weird)I'm wondering if I am using someone else's account some how.Can any one explain this?? ??

And you didnt let it stop to see what they were typing?? I would have died of curiousity.

Still sounds like a trojan to me bro.

Look in your network settings and see if your workgroup is still named WORKGROUP if it is, change it.

actually I did read it but it was gibberish but I copyed and pasted it so here it is

"and then moand they if they have been moved the visit something of a lot into live within going to mailing a developer and how I am now, they stopb writeingof the the is the 1lb. and a few of a U.S. goods half a mile line of hand and I'm a convenient taxes not have a young men and a route mailing delay time and we have in mind, though I have a inning handling the with there's no telling who: 1.0 on this day and a great The two things you wear name and phone rang and rang in his only available in having the same nine nine and the U.S. grain. And in line. The right thing and demeaning and eventU.N. can play an hour and then and he hi 90 days later and event in the day team via-you might imagine that the only thing I thought not only the home and them in a pain in Vietnam and in one thing of the hang it on him, NY and an ally and a Manhattan and in an unrelated he's an even in his united way and her zaman and leave and go end zone. Now and then you can you read thismove on"

Then I got board cause it made no since so I stopped :p and what is it I should look for in my network settings?? I don't know much about networks,so it could be possible I have something set up wrong. that's another thing if it was a trojan why would they write that?? doesn't make since...also this hard drive is only a few months old so theres not a big chance I downloaded a Trojan in that time ..though its obviously possible..

The reason I wanted you to check your network settings is because you have cable internet. Cable is set up like one big network. If your workgroup is set to WORKGROUP (default) and so is your neighbors, then the potential to see these things is great. It's a big security risk. Change your workgroup to a bunch of letters that dont make sense.

This may be why this is happening, but with the unintelligible english, it's more than likely a virus.

:o :o :o OOPS HA!! I just checked to make sure it was renamed and last time I reinstalled winxp I must have skipped that cause it was the default which is(mshome) for xp. Hope that was the problem........
