Hi-

I did a search of the forum and can't seem to find information on which DDR2 PC2-6400 240 pin RAM. My system is a Intel P4775 830 3.0GHz w/Asus P5ND2-SLI Deluxe and I want to make I'm not making a bottleneck in the RAM. Which do you reccoment I have around $300 to spend and would like to get a matched 2 x 512MB set.

Thanks,
Colin

Why do you need PC2-6400? Let's look at this logically. With good air cooling, you'll be lucky to hit 4 gig with a 830 CPU. That's 267 FSB. Using the 1:1 ratio means PC2-4200 will be right in spec at that speed. Most high quality PC2-5400 will easily O/C to DDR2-700 and usually much more. My OCZ PC2-4200 will do DDR2-720 with extra voltage and my Kingston HyperX PC2-5400 will hit DDR2-800. What you will gain in high speed you will lose by having to use relaxed timings. That said, if you still really want PC2-6400, check out the Mushkin eXtreme Performance stuff.

That RAM mentioned in the article that is rated 3-2-2-8 is OCZ EB rev2 PC2-4200 DDR2 RAM which is the same as what I have in my "green" rig listed in my siggy.
