I have a quick question...my MCP655 is mounted outside of my case, and I want to run the wires inside of the case. Instead of putting a hole in the case large enough for the 4-pin molex connector, could I instead use a 4 to 3 pin adapter, and run it into my case through the smaller wire? Or would the smaller wire not be up to the 24w that the pump needs to pull?

For those of you wondering, I'm NOT planning on attaching the pump to a motherboard header or fanbus. :)

Use a very small screwdriver (or toothpick even) to get the pins out of the molex connector, pass the wires through any available hole (or make a small one) and then just push them into the connector again.

People pop those pins in and out all the time, especially when performing the 7 volt mod.

I'll second Graystar, thats probably the best way to go.

Here's a third on the popping the pins idea. It will be easier, and totally free to pull out the molex pins.

Duh...lol.

Thanks!

here is a site with specifics for maximum current through different gauge wire.
