I'm looking to get some images made into vinyl case decals but most places just use simple designs and cut them out which isn't what I want. At http://kustompcs.co.uk/ they have "case wraps" which are apparently printed on self-adhesive vinyl. However they custom decal service they offer is based on the cutting technique I mentioned earlier. In my searches I have found that they is a type of vinyl that can be printed on by a normal inkjet which would be perfect, unfortunatly the only supplier only supplies such products in bulk. It turns out the company supplies my school with supplies however my school can't justtify buying in bulk just so can have a few packets of the stuff to play around with.

My question is: does anyone else have a clue where I might be able to buy similar stuff from or get my images printed in high colour for a case sticker. Bear in mind I live in the UK but knowing that more than one company does produce such a product would be helpful as well.

If there are any other suggestions as to how I might do this (and I'm no good at painting so that simply isn't an option) will be much appreciated as well.

Most sign shops and car detailing shops only work with single-tone equipment, which means that they print a single color of vinyl from a two-tone image then apply those in layers.

Printable vinyl is quite expensive ($15 sq. ft for banners, $10 sq. ft for decals) and requires specialized large-spool printers, which explains why it's only available in bulk order. I highly doubt that you'll be able to find a shop locally unless you live in a big city. There's one near me, but that's because I'm in the Washington D.C. area which has a huge printing demand.

Sorry I should have been clearer. The stuff I'm talking about was A4 sized self-adhesive clear/white printable vinyl @ £12.95/pack of 10. I have found another site which talks about exaclty the same sort of stuff but it isn't an online retailer.

Also my school does happen to have access to large scale vinyl cutting equipment which they use to make banners and such like you said. Not that I need that kind of stuff :D

Have you considered making/using waterslide decals?
There are a number of manufacturers who produce decal stock for use in inkjet printers.
Just do a web search for "inkjet decal" or "waterslide decal"

What's wrong with contact paper? CLear contact paper over printed papers usually will be fine unless you're setting up banner in the AMazon rainforest.

Craft stores should have static-cling clear material for use in making window decals, etc. That should be safe if you're using it to cover a case window (I believe the protective plastic covering is applied the same way). As for the case itself, I'd suggest clear/white contact paper, or overhead transparency sheets which are designed for printing (unsure as to how adhesive would be applied or what to use however).
