How do I switch to compatibility mode in Windows XP ? I want to play Need For Speed 4 : high Stakes, but it doesn't support Win2k (which means Windows XP too !). So would it work in compatibility mode, and how do I change it to that ?
try right clicking on the program icon -> select Properties ->
select Compatibilty. under there you should find what your looking for.

I have XP pro, and haven't had any problems with any 95/98 games...even those that are not 2000 compatible. You should try it and see if it works. You may be surprised. I know I was :)

By the way, I didn't change any "compatability mode" settings, it just worked. (truth is, I haven't even heard of that)

I dosen't work very well... Quake 2 won't play with compatability mode on or off. I haven't tried 3 yet. A lot of games and software I have won't work on XP.

I think part of that si most programs look for a known version of windows. Like 98,95, NT 3.51, NT 4, NT5. But in XP its NT 5.1 so it gets confused and insists on not running. Understand what I'm trying to say?
