Hey guys, just wondering, whats the best 7800GTX, as in, which brand and model has the best mem chips etc.

I would stick with eVGA as always but if you didn't buy one yet I'd suggest that you wait some more cause 7800Ultras are about to come out

You can't go wrong with the speed and price of the XFX Extreme Gamer edition, and now with it's lifetime warranty your butt is covered. However, if you want the best quality build, I've found BFG uses the best components, and eVGA is certainly not a bad way to go either.

My BFG is solid but they use a cheap thermal tape between the component and the heatsink.

For the most part all of the 7800GTX are comparable. Get the one with the best warranty. I haven't heard or read anything that sets one manufacturer's card over the others.

I like BFG, they're pre-overclocked, usually. But thats just me.

So, BFG is the way?

The Leadtek one is the cheapest one i can get here, but are you sure to spend the extra for a BFG?

The XFX Extreme Edition is the best out the box at 490mhz+ core and 1.3ghz+ memory.
The guy over at www.overclockers.co.uk 's (computer component seller) forums, who works for the company says that XFX buy slighty better yeilding cores from NVIDIA and that most of the cards reach 520mhz + on the core and he also got 1.4ghz on the mem.

Ow yea, how could i forget about Albatron, doh,

Anyways, i want a card thats high quality, but i rather it be stock speeds, i dont wanna pay the extra $150 or so for a card thats overclocked, when i could do it myself

The new asus top one hands down, comes with higher stock clocks and a awesome cooler (looks like an arctic silencer)

is that somehow better?
Is that better than putting a Actic Silencer 5 on by myself and OC it?

Coz that card duz cost me and extra arm

Well if you wanted you could prolly fit something else on their but it would require modding to the heatsink, the cooler used on the asus one would prolly perform better and wouldnt require modding, but if you you wanna look into aftermark coolers I suggest get the zalamn one with some copper ramsinks itll do the job, just as good.

I'd go for the leadtek. It's the cheapest one and there is supposed to be a BIOS update which will increase the speed of the RAM to 1.25ghz guaranteed.

I'd just go for the cheapest one to be honest, they all run on stock cooling (I think) and a good overclock will just be luck of the draw.

Best card out of box: eVGA 7800GTX KO Edition
Best card with most games: XFX 7800GTX Gamer Edition
Best stock heatsink: Leadtek 7800GTX
Second best card out of box/second best heatsink: BFG 7800GTX

Both the BFG, eVGA, and XFX has great warranties, but since you'll probably be OCing, warranties shouldn't matter TOO much. If your planning to use a aftermarket cooler on it, I'd probably choose the cheapest if price is a problem. But then, I'd recommend you getting the BFG or plain eVGA one if your planning to use aftermarket coolers.
