View Full Version : does this look like a good setup?
I have an antec ks282 mid-tower case, 1.4Ghz 266 athlon, ECS k7s5a mobo(I know it is a cheap board but I don't have money for a better one yet), DD Maze2 waterblock, 6x6x6 res w/ little giant pump, godan heatercore, and all my fans are panflos with a pcmods baybus
I have not installed the water cooling setup yet and I would like some comments on my idea before I do so.
the place where the water hoses come out of the case will have catch releases so I don't have a case that weighs more than 50lbs that I have to carry to LAN parties.:p

Most people have their resevoir down in front below the hard drives, you should see if it can fit, then you can put the radiator further near the back...that's a tried and tested setup.
I agree with the fuzz. Also, those hoses look much longer than they need to be- the shorter the hoses are the less friction, and thus the better the water flow is. More importantly, try to keep every component on the same level for best results. Pump\ res. waterblock, and radiator as well as all hoses should be horizontally aligned for best results.
Also, I've used those quick-disconnects you mentioned, they are cool but really restrict water flow.
Of course you may want to trade some efficiency for the sheer coolness factor of a non-standard setup!:) I would.:D:D

the scale of the drawing is questionable
I drew it to give an idea of what my setup will be like
for instance the distance from the top of the mobo to the top o' the case is about 4'' and the mobo it self is about 12''
I want to put the res on top because
a) it is a really tight fit to get it under my harddrive rack and btwn the front of the case and the 120mm fan on the bottom
b)I go to LAN parties often and I don't want my case to be too heavy in itself
the reason I have the radiator where it is is because I have 2 5.25'' bays for all intents empty thus some airflow
also I intend to make a grill in the front of one of them
if I put it over the powersupply there would be only an inch bwtn the psu and the radiator
I wish I had gotten a bigger case earlier
but I like this one too much to give it up now
if I had I could have arranged things with more room to spare
perhaps this will clarify things alittle

chure. i like it because it has very little vertical pumping distance. slick setup.
i'd consider using something much better then a 60mm fan though personally - both for noise and CFM's.
